BEAUTIFUL CHRISTMAS TABLE IDEAS
The festive season is almost upon us and with gifts bought and wrapped, attention turns to getting things ready for the big day. Whether you are setting your dining table or want something decorative for a coffee table, we have lots of ideas and inspiration in this post.
From seasonal runners to elaborate centrepieces and table coverings, through to some well-placed ornaments, there’s a lot that you can do with your tables to make them look the part this Christmas.
HOW TO DECORATE YOUR DINING TABLE FOR CHRISTMAS
For the main dining table you want something that looks stylish, sophisticated and Christmassy too.
The best dining tables start with the table cloth. Layering is a great idea for tables at Christmas if you use a water resistant sheet underneath that will soak up any spills. Place your tablecloth over the top. Your table cloth could be white, navy or a festive colour of your choice. If you opt for a colour, make sure that all the other decorative elements tie in nicely.
Use a colour scheme for your table whether it’s rich festive colours of reds and greens, something more sophisticated such as white and gold or recreate a winter wonderland with a blend of cool blue and navy. Having a colour scheme will add a touch of sophistication to the table setting.
No matter what shape your dining table is, you will need an elegant centrepiece. This is one of the most important things in the table design. This could include a clear vase filled with Christmas foilage such as berries, pine cones and holly or a chunky candle in an ornate candle holder with surrounding greenery. For longer tables you can mix and match with a main centrepiece and some elegant candle sticks at either side.
When it comes to placing your cutlery and crockery, make sure you have consistency. Use the same cutlery, serving spoons and glassware and have plenty of serving dishes on standby.
IDEAS FOR SETTING A CHRISTMAS COFFEE TABLE
When it comes to styling your coffee table there are no rules but it’s always a good idea to start with a theme. There are lots of themes that you can run with, but for Christmas, you can choose natural, evergreen, rustic or add a little sparkle.
Natural – Candle holders, a robin, nest, pine cones and maybe an evergreen plant in a festive basket placed on a wooden stand.
Rustic Styles – Choose items such as reclaimed wood trays, festive antique animal ornaments, old books, antlers and a farmhouse table runner for a coffee table.
Sparkle – Add a little glitz and glamour to the coffee table with gold or silver pine cones, elegant glass candle holders or trays that look simple, clean and elegant.
